The Perfect Holiday Cranberry Marsala Sauce

A delicious cranberry sauce with notes of marsala wine, honey, and citrus. Makes the perfect addition to a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 medium naval orange
  • 3/4 to 1 cup honey depending on desired sweetness (I like to use the full cup!)
  • 1/4 cup marsala wine
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 - 12 oz bag cranberries

Instructions

  1. Zest and juice orange into a medium-sized saucepan. Add remaining ingredients and place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. You will hear the cranberries popping open which is a good sign! Cook for 15 minutes or until cranberries have a split look and sauce has started to thicken. Remove from heat and press gently with the back of a spoon, breaking up the cranberries a bit more. Let cool completely. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

For easy cleanup, I HIGHLY recommend pouring this recipe into the serving dish as soon as it is done on the stove and then cleaning the pan right away (or at least soaking in water). The sauce tends to harden as it cools, so it is easier to tackle in the beginning.
