  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp yeast instant works faster but regular is ok too

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil give or take a few tbsp
  • melted butter optional, for brushing top

Garlic Herb Butter Dip

  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 garlic cloves finely minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp Italian herbs dry
  • 1/2 cup oil

Instructions

Homemade Bread

  1. Heat water in microwave for approx 45 seconds, or until warm to the touch but not too hot where you cant tolerate it on your skin. Mix in sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Add in yeast and give a quick mix. Set aside for 5 to 10 minutes or until nice and foamy.

  2. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Meanwhile, add flour and salt to a mixer. With the paddle blade, mix together for 30 seconds. When yeast mix is ready, add to flour mix and stir to combine, about 20 seconds. Some of the flour will be on the bottom. Drizzle in olive oil (approx 1/4 cup but may need more or less) just until all the flour is incorporated into the dough.

  3. Switch to the dough hook on mixer. Knead at a medium speed for 5 minutes. Move dough to a greased 9 x 5 bread pan. Let rise for about 20 minutes, or until bread has risen up significantly over the pan. It will double to triple in size. Bake pan in center of oven for 15 to 17 minutes. Remove from oven. Let sit in pan for 10 min and then remove to cool completely on a wire rack. Brush with melted butter if desired. Slice and enjoy!

Garlic Herb Butter Dip

  1. Heat a stick of butter in a saucepan over medium heat until melted. Add in garlic, herbs, salt and olive oil. Let cook for 30 seconds, then remove from heat and let sit for 2 minutes. Pour into ramekin and let cool. Stir well before serving.

How to Make into Rolls

  1. This recipe can also be made into rolls! After the dough has been kneaded, divide equally into 24 portions and shape each one into a ball, pinching the dough under and placing seam side down on a greased pan or piece of parchment. Keep a few inches in between each one. Let rise for 20 minutes and then cut a slit in the top of each roll. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 450 degrees or until the tops are golden. Brush with butter after removed from oven and serve warm.
